If you haven’t heard of TEDTalks yet, you should check it out. These are some of the latest presentations added and I think they are a great combination of pure genius, inspiration, and even comedy. TED conference speakers cover many topics including business, technology, design, arts, culture, and global issues. I try to make sure I watch all the business and technology related presentations. These are not very short but it will be time well spent. All these videos could also be downloaded on the TED website.

I hope you enjoyed the videos. Let me know what you thought by leaving a comment.

I am a recent college graduate myself and I do not currently have a profile on LinkedIn. I had tried it out for a short while during my senior year of classes and determined that it was really of no use to me since I did not have enough business contacts to connect with. The handful I did have were people I worked with at the company I interned for, maybe a professor or two, and a couple friends that were also on the site. Don’t get me wrong, I am very keen on making and keeping business contacts, but up until now, I have just been entering their info into my phone.

Maybe a few years down the road as I develop into my career and meet more people at new companies, I might give it another shot. I am sure the social network has helped many college grads find positions at great companies, but I would be interested to know how they made the first connection. I could imagine that they probably knew the contact out of the social network before the connection was made on LinkedIn. I could be wrong though, maybe I just didn’t spend enough time on there to really see all the benefits.

I guess the best benefit is just having more exposure because more employers are now using LinkedIn as another online recruiting tool to find potential candidates.

Update:  I signed up again for the site and started connecting with new co-workers and friends since I am meeting new people at new companies. I still very rarely check the site but the amount of time it takes to keep my profile updated is minimal so I figure why not.

I came across this video on the FastCompany website and really enjoyed it. The R/GA advertising agency has been around for 30 years and there is a very good chance you have seen a their work in your lifetime. Watch the video and see how many ads you can make a connection with:
